Today I am FREE
My eyes are not blackened and I can see.
Do you see that tree?
It used to be ugly to me, but not today.
Today it is a beautiful tree.
Can you see the bright green leaves?
I can, because TODAY I can see.
Yesterday I would have only seen,
The ugly leaves that have fallen from the tree.
Today, the ugly leaves that have fallen,
Are the ONLY ones I will NOT see.
Because today, tomorrow, and forever
I will be looking at the leaves atop the tree.
They are so green and alive.
I can see them breathing and dancing in the wind.
Today is MY day, because today I can SEE.
My eyes are not blackened,
and Today
I AM FREE!
