The Case of the Mysterious Sender

So this morning I received a chain text on my cell phone. It was from a phone number that I did not recognize, but this didn’t bother me because my 13 year old daughter always uses my cell phone.
The text was nice. It started with a pretty picture of flowers. Beneath the bouquet was a message that said something along the lines of a girl/woman being strong and independent. I thought it was so nice that I decided to forward it to a lot of women in my phone.
I went through the list alphabetically. I ended up sending the text to 15 women. A few minutes later my husband received the same text. He assumed it was from me, questioned why I would send him a feminine message and deleted it. Then he asked me why. I informed him that it was not me who sent it. I explained that I sent it to 15 women, but NOT him.
We were both confused. Now I was curious who sent him the flower message. Could it have been one of the ladies I sent it to? How awkward it would be if I send a flower message to a lady and she turns around and sends it to MY husband! The weird thing is that only one lady, my stepmom, sent me a Thank You text.
So here is the mystery: who sent the message to my husband and why? Could it have been the same person who initially sent it to me? I guess we will never know…

New Lipstick

So after winning our “Lady Gaga” pink lipsticks and lip glosses, my sister did not like the color for her. We went back to the mall to exchange. It is great that Nordstrom’s allows you to return the make-up.
My sister exchanged her colors and I decided to keep mine. I liked the pink, and it has been a while since I even wore lipstick. While we were in the MAC section I saw a lady wearing a nice nude color. I asked her what colors and if I could try them on myself.
The look was great, I loved it and so did my sister. I didn’t have the funds to purchase it all so I will be returning next month to purchase it. But today my sister surprised me! We went back to MAC because she wanted some more colors and she purchased the lipstick for me!
“It is an early Christmas present”, she said to me. But hey, I sure was happy! Thanks sis, you always make me feel special when you do little things for me. Love you.

JACKPOT!!!!!

So recently my husband and I went to play some poker. We always put our names on the board to be called, and I almost always go second when a seat is available. I am not sure why I do this. So a few weeks ago, we go to the casino and when they called my husband’s initials to go, he asked me, “do you want to go first or me?” As usual, I told him that he could go. He went on his way and I was seated shortly after. I was sitting two tables away and could see him!
Just as I was warming up to the people at my table, I hear no one other than my husband’s loud roar! I turn around in my seat and see him with both arms raised in victory and yelling. Everyone at his table were giving high-fives. I quickly folded my hand and ran to him to see…could it be???
YES! His table hit a jackpot!!!!!! Oh my gosh….this was the very first time that one of us were at a table that hit. This is the main reason my husband likes to play poker at the casino. The jackpots always increase until someone wins, and on certain nights, they have Double Jackpot! Guess what…that night was one of those nights. Yes, the red light was flashing and they just hit a double jackpot for $30,000. Oh how it would have bee nice if my husband were the one with the large share, but we didn’t mind either way.
The jackpots are split 50, 25, 25. This means that the losing hand gets 50%, the winning hand gets 25%, and the rest of the players share the last 25%. So the winner took home $14,000 and my husband took home $1250. But we were sooooo happy. I think no one was happier than my husband though. He was dancing around the poker room and being his loud and crazy self. From his actions, you would have thought he won the $14,000. The man who won that just sat there and looked all gloomy.
We have been close, but close does not count. My husband finally accomplished what he has wanted for about 11 years…a jackpot. And just think, if I would have took the first seat, as he offered it to me, I could have won.  Oh well, maybe better luck next time.

I Love My Job!

I am a Substitute Teacher.
I work with children from 1 month all the way up to 12th graders! Funny that I like the youngest and the oldest the best.
Lately, I have found that what I love the most is working with the 0-5 years group. I have been exclusively subbing for the daycares. I love my job. I love the children. I HATE getting sick every two months. It’s No Buenos! 
But, as they say, you have to take the good with the bad. And the good far outweighs the bad for me.
I love when I walk into a room, and 17 young faces cheer with joy when they see my face. I have little arms thrown around my legs, babies laugh and crawl to me. The joy that they bring me, just by being thrilled that I am there with them, melts my heart. I love those children, and I love my job!

Missing My Dad

For a while, my dad and I were seeing one another three times a week. I was not working too much and I missed my dad. I decided to see him often. We didn’t do much, but it didn’t matter. I am always his little girl when we are together. Me being a wife and a mom just go out the window, and I am his little girl all over again.
In May, he decided to move to Indiana. This was a decision made to speed up the process of my stepmom getting better. I understood and agreed that it was the best thing to do. Unfortunately for me, it meant that I didn’t get to see my dad anymore. How sad 
I worked all summer long, while teachers were out vacationing, I was busting my bottom working! I was thankful to have all the work and the income. One day in late Aug. I realized I was going to use some money to go and see my dad!
After asking around, I scored some buddy pass tickets, thanks to an old high school friend. I got my round-trip airfare for a steal. So I jumped on a plane and left my children with my husband. I went to Indiana and stayed with my dad for a week. It was the quickest week in my entire life!
We went by the Colt’s stadium, Indy 500, and a whole lot of corn fields! We mostly lounged around the house. We did eat though. I love to eat, and dad took me to quite a few places.
The best part of all, was just cuddling up next to dad on the sofa, just like I did as a little girl. 
I love you dad….hurry home!

Monopoly @ McDonald’s

MONOPOLY is baaaaack! @ McDonald’s.
Every year I try and play, and to no avail. I never win….but it sure is fun having hope that I will get the 2 pieces I need to win that $1,000,000. I know that is a little extreme, but come on, let a girl dream! 

Girly Girl

I decided to be a girl’s girl!
I have three daughters. I always wanted boys. I was a tomboy. But, I ended up with a son and three daughters.
So I had some credit at a fashion store. I really like the store and was excited to get a new shirt or new pair of jeans. I LOVE jeans. So my husband drives me there yesterday. I felt bad that he decided to stay in the car and wait. I mean, I felt like I couldn’t just take my time and browse, being that he was in the car and all. And then I saw it…
Eye shadow! I saw makeup and I was reminded that my daughter could really use some. I asked how much and it was only $2. I know it was generic, but for a starter’s makeup, who cares? The colors were nice. And for that price I decided to buy one for all my daughters.
I looked around but decided to buy nail polish! Just a few days ago I looked and looked for nail polish on sale. It can be so expensive. They had it for .99 cents. I could not believe it! I grabbed all kinds of colors, glitter, stars, two-tone. You name it and I got it. And I got them all a lip gloss.
When my girls arrived home from school I showed them what I got. They were surprised that I managed to be girly and buy all that make-up for them. I felt good doing for them, I always do. And I was excited that now we have every color nail polish a girl could ask for!

My Machine

For the first time, my husband and I got a catalog from the casino and it said that for the month of Oct. we had free-play on our player’s card. Every week the money would automatically be on our card. For some reason, I get $10 a week and my husband gets $20. I do not understand, but whatever. I was happy that we even got some free money.
Every Monday I look forward to going and playing, just to win a few dollars. I played on a machine one night with some free play and won $50, so I have been dedicated to that machine. The last two times we went I won like $20 and $12. Better than nothing right? So I am ready, headed straight to that machine. My husband was in a hurry to leave me and I didn’t want him to. After all, I only had $10. So he sat and watched me play. I cashed out with $13.20.
“Alright, I won $12 free dollars” I said to him! I was happy that I was walking away with some money. Not a lot, but enough to say that I was a winner. “Come on, now I am going to play on MY machine!” What? I looked at my husband like he was crazy….he didn’t have “a machine”! Lol. He was walking through all of the machines and then stops and says, this is it, this is my machine. I wailed out in laughter. He an I do not even play slots, but he claimed to have a machine.
Okay, I sat back to watch. Then he goes on to inform me that he recently watched a man sit down with $40 and get up with $800, so he was convinced that he would win too. After playing down $10.50 of his free-play, he hit a bonus round, this awarded him 20 free spins!
Let me tell you, he cleaned up! He kept winning with every spin. This was a nickel machine and he bet all 30 lines, 1 bet per line. Max bet was 10 per line. Before you know it he was already over 1000 credits. I was trying to do the math in my head, what a thousand nickels were. My eyes got big…he was making some money.
The free spins ended and I made him cash out without spending one dime of what he won. He had just won $88. We were so excited! So I guess “his machine” was truly a winning machine…now my turn next Monday!

Girl’s night out

So every girl loves makeup right? Maybe not…but I do and so does my sister. My sister decided to text me while I was at work to tell me about a makeup party, she wanted to invite me to go along. I had no plans and it was a Friday night so I decided to go.
The event was being held at Posh Palace in Yucaipa. This was a little trendy boutique that has been open for about a year. I assume that the owner was looking to gain some shoppers, so she announced on Facebook that there was going to be a Mac makeup and champagne party and a raffle would be held. This got my sister’s attention right away.
The store had some really cute accessories. They had jeans and hats, shirts and dresses. We looked around, but we were anxiously waiting for the raffle. In the meantime, we sipped champagne while a Mac makeup artist made over a girl’s face.
We had been there about 2 hours when they finally did the raffle. By this time, the majority of the women in the raffle had left. The first two names called were those of a mom and daughter. It was kind of cool that they both won. My sister and I were both bummed. Then the owner announced that she had 2 more gifts. We high-fived one another and listened for our names. The owner must have drawn 8 names and every single lady had left. Then MY name was called. We were high-fiving and “woooohoooo” ing! Just as I received my gift my sister went from happy to mad/sad. She announced aloud, “Man, I NEVER win anything”! Just as she said “anything” we heard her name! She won. We were so excited. The lady who won before us chose the gift that my sister wanted. It was a Disney collection purple eye shadow. They are never going to sell that item again. My sister really loved the purple eye shadow. She didn’t say it, but I knew she was bummed the other lady took it.
Overall, we were just thrilled that we won; the BOTH of us! Kind of funny that the first two winners were mom and daughter, and the second two winners were sisters! So what was our prize, you wonder? A Lady Gaga, pink collection. We won a lipstick and lip-gloss with a color created just for Lady Gaga. I was happy, my sister was happy and our night out together was awesome.
