Cheap Thrill

So I am absolutely in love with Eric Jerome Dickey.

I am on Facebook as are half of the world! And so is Eric! Yay. Of course I am on his friends…I can’t get enough. So while I was on one day it popped up that he was online and available to chat. Oh my goodness! I was so excited. But what do you say that captures his attention when there could be like 5000 people trying to talk to him at the same time? I just typed…and my heart pounded. I am not crazy over famous people, but I was so nervous to talk with him. He chatted me up for a quick couple of minutes and I was so happy. What an honor on my part to speak with a man that I idolize.

I say this because I can’t seem to get enough of him. Okay, not him, but his books. I picked one up by chance while standing in line at Walmart. Someone had left it lying there, after they had changed their mind about buying it. Who was this person? I wish I could thank you. I love reading, but I do find it difficult to find a book that keeps my attention and has me wanting to buy more.

With EJD’s books, I can’t put them down. I turn the pages until my husband turns the lights out on me. I started my first book, Chasing Destiny, and it was one of his newer books. I read backwards, making my way to his first book! He has a new one, Resurrecting Midnight, coming out this month and you better believe, I am going to get it. This man has amazing talent and he is my idol. I can only wish to be like him.

If you haven’t read his books, go buy one and get lost in his amazing escape of thieves, con artists, cheaters, liars, and everyday hardworking citizens.

Can You Say Yellow?

(This is for you, when you decide to visit this site again.)

So my Dad wanted a new car. He had 3, one for towing behind his motorhoome, one for him, and one for his wife. Now that he is retired he doesn’t need three and they all had a lot of mileage. So on Sunday I went to bond with my stepmom while my Dad was out fishing. What do you know, 15 minutes after my arrival, here is Dad! They asked if I wanted to join them on their “Jeep” hunting adventure and I quickly obliged. I had nothing else to do.

My daughter Porsha and I caravaned down to the dealership where my Dad and step mom traded in all 3 cars for one YELLOW jeep! My dad wanted yellow, my step mom wanted 4 doors, so they compromised and bought a 4-door yellow Jeep. I am happy for them. Just what they wanted.

After our long day Dad treated us to Sizzler’s. Yummy…thanks dad :)

Porsha

And so it begins…I think:)

Porsha is 7, she is smart, beautiful, and full of energy. This girl can talk so much. It is like she saves it all up over night and then explodes the entire day! Porsha has always been extremely pretty and her outgoing attitude is an advantage. I have tried to get her into print or commercials before, but I have only discovered scam artists. We finally have met some of the right people and Porsha may be on her way to a very successful future. I hope things work out for our daughter. So her first photo shoot is scheduled in Sept. I will be back to update her status sometime afterward. Until then, you can visit her at this site, leave your encouraging comments, and vote for her to win model of the month:

Until next time…

New Start

Monique started Junior High today! My goodness…my baby girl is growing up so fast. In the moment as we live it,  it seems that it takes so long for life to progress. Now I sit here 12 years later and I wonder how it was that her life has sped by so fast? She was just an infant, just in preschool, just asking me to read to her or lay with her during a nap. She begins a journey today that is a landmark in her life. She will make new friends, meet new people and learn more about her world than she ever imagined. I love that girl with all of my heart, and I hope that this new school, and school year will have a positive impact on the rest of her life.

I love you Monique. I can hardly wait to see all of your accomplishments that I know you will make this year.

Working for Associated Content

So I signed up with a company, Associated Content, just over 2 years ago. I love to write and they pay you to do so. I began by publishing a couple of poems. Unfortunately you only get paid for every 1000 page views, and people really do not look up poetry. I began to publish papers that I have written and this worked out well. You can get paid upfront for some work if it is approved, then you also make money when people read it.

This has been a great investment. Unfortunately I have only recently updated my profile and published more work. It is great making money on the side. I am not making a lot of money yet, but I have been able to purchase myself an item, a Mother’s Day gift, a birthday present for my daughter, and a few other items via paypal with my money earned.

If you like to write and want to earn a little extra cash, check out the site. Here is a link to my site: http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/64141/lisa_babers.html

Playdates

There was a time, up until just this last year, that I saw my dad very infrequently. My dad only lives 30 minutes from me and yet his schedule as well and mine always seemed to conflict. Now he is officially retired and unfortunately his wife is ill. While his wife is at dialysis he is left alone waiting for 4 hours.

I decided that since I had been working so little, I would help him to pass the time. What fun have I had! We do absolutely nothing sometimes (walking around Costco for 2 1/2 hours) and other times we go out to eat, or we shop Victoria Gardens and manage to only spend .82 cents. This is funny.

No matter what we do, I am LOVING my quality time with  my dad. He and I have bonded recently and I am so thankful and appreciative to have this time with him. It is sad on the other hand, life is always working like a double edge sword. I get quality time because his wife is ill, but I have become closer with her as well. So now I have adventures to write about, and possible reviews.

This is basically a note to express how happy I am to not sleep in on a Saturday because I know that I get to spend 4 hours with my dad.

Love You Dad!

The Fine Print

Okay, so we have all been there and done that when it comes to reading the fine print. We have all uploaded, downloaded or payed for something on the computer that asks us to “accept” or “cancel”. Of course we all just want to get to the final page so we agree that we have read the terms and conditions and we agree or accept in order to continue. Am I right or wrong?

Well, I was signing up for information and the info was only supposed to cost me the low low price of $1.99. Now, I can afford that! So I signed right on up, giving them my credit card info of course…and 1 minute later I was in to the site I wanted. It was all good right?

Wrong! My little friend named Subconscious, told me to go online and look at my credit card, so I did. My friend always has good intentions and only looks out for my best interests. What do you know! $22.00 more…had been added to my card. What?!?! I immeadiately called the company who informed me that in the “Fine Print” I agreed to sign up with their partner companies (plural) and I was charged for my new membership.

ERRRRRR……I was mad, and annoyed. I had beed had. I had been too lazy and in too much of a hurry to read the darn fine print. So I canceled with all of the companies. They told me my money would be refunded. This was 12 days ago and no money. I called today and they told me I will not see my money until March 16th. Now how can they take my money in 30 seconds and not give it back for over a month?

The moral of this story: slow down and take the time to read the fine print; especially when giving out your credit card information.

Just cause I know you’re looking!

I haven’t posted anything for a while…maybe it is a way of dicovering just how boring my life is at times! So this is just to let you know that I am alive, hehe. I saw Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail. It had funny moments, bit it was not one of his better movies. I did love how he incorporated Dr. Phil, Judge Mathis, and Judge Mabeleen Ephriam into his storyline.

On the other hand, I am sick, errrrr. So here I am bed ridden and feeling guilty that Dad is playing T-Ball with our daughter and I cannot join in the fun : (

Until next time.
